Jimmy Curle: My name’s Jimmy Curle, and I live in Hodgenville, Kentucky. Rob Casper: And how close is that to New Haven? Jimmy: It’s about uh, ten miles maybe. Something like that, it’s not very far. Rob: And can you tell us what’s exciting about have Tracy here in New Haven at the library? Jimmy: Well, uh, I just wanted to come and support her cause, uh, my mother, uh, was a poet, and she always taught us, my mom and my dad both, about reading and the importance of reading and everything. I have a niece that’s an author, authoress I’d guess you’d say, but I just always read when I was young and everything, and when I saw it, I just saw it a few days ago, I didn’t really know anything about it, but I just wanted to come and support her, and to share. It’s always good to share with somebody that has the same interest with you. Rob: Can you talk about-so your mom lived here, in the area and was a poet- what was it like for her to be a poet here? How does this community support poetry? Jimmy: They really did support it. She read a lot at the library for kids, and also some of her books are in the library and in bookstores around here. She was an inspiration to everybody, lot of people had her write stuff for, any kind of speeches and so forth cause they knew she had the mind. And she just loved it, like I was telling Tracy here, she wrote every day, just about from when she was a young girl. She just loved writing and I always loved it too. Now reading, all of us kids-there were six in my family, six kids-we all read, and I even went to the schools and read some of her poetry to the kids at school. Rob: And did your mom grow up in this community, in this part of Kentucky? Jimmy: She grew up in Hardin County, Kentucky, which is the next county over from Nelson, where we are now, but LaRue’s the next county, and as a young girl she was sick. I’m not sure what it was, but she was sick when she was young and she missed I know one year of school because of that. But she never put anything else before us. But this was really important to her, and it’s really paid off also. I mean she just had a passion for it, and as a matter of fact, from here, we still have their farm. We grew up on a farm. And we still have the farm. And matter of fact, my wife and I, have not a bed and breakfast but a vacation getaway on the farm, so we have some of her writings and stuff in there. So we have a lot of people come in, we’ve had people from everywhere, from Amsterdam, British Columbia, lot of people come and visit. But they don’t come here just to come to the place, on their visitation to the United States, but it’s just been a great honor to come down and meet her. And I’m on the LaRue County library board, I was talking about we’re building a new library in Larue County so I always try to support anything going on that has to do with education. Rob: Well thanks so much for talking with us and coming out today.
